1987 BMW 520 Automatic - Luxor Beige

The BMW 5 Series E28 has long been recognised for its balance of understated elegance and refined engineering, and this 1987 BMW 520 Automatic represents a particularly well-preserved example. First registered in Cyprus in 1987 and supplied new by Char. Pilakoutas & Sons BMW in Limassol, it was delivered to its first owner in November of that year and remained with the family at their Cypriot home for more than a decade. Early invoices remain in the history file, including documentation for an inspection carried out at just 2,000 km in 1987, offering a rare glimpse into the car’s earliest days.

In 1999 the same owner imported the car into the United Kingdom, where it was subsequently registered and has since had only two keepers. Throughout its life in the UK it has been stored in an underground garage and used sparingly, contributing to the car’s unusually well-preserved condition. The comprehensive history file includes numerous MOT certificates, servicing invoices and parts receipts dating back to its time in Cyprus and continuing through its years in Britain. All import documentation is also present, allowing its provenance to be traced from new.

Finished in Luxor Beige, the car presents with a quiet elegance characteristic of the era. Inside, it retains its original Pioneer radio cassette, a rare and pleasing survivor that adds to its period charm. Its most recent service was completed in July 2024, ensuring it is running as it should and ready for continued enjoyment.

This is a charming and highly original E28 with excellent provenance, careful long-term ownership and documentation that spans its entire life from new. A lovely opportunity for the enthusiast or collector seeking a genuinely well-kept 1980s BMW saloon.
