1968 MGC GT – Quality Restoration/Low Miles/Overdrive/PAS

The MGC, planned as a replacement for the Austin Healey 3000, was based on the MGB and intended as a long-distance tourer with a smooth straight six engine developing 150bhp, a top speed in excess of 120mph and, most importantly, an utterly addictive soundtrack.

The initial launch was a public relations disaster with wrong tyre pressures and poorly prepared cars, but history has been kind to the ‘C’ and today good examples – particularly of the CGT with overdrive - are rightly recognised as a classic grand tourer.

At Milestone Classics we do like to market outstanding GT’s and were delighted when a regular customer asked us to part-exchange the MGC GT that he had purchased from us two years ago for a roadster.

The ‘C’ was the subject of a no expense spared restoration around 10 years ago as a marketing exercise by Devon Classic Cars who wanted to demonstrate the quality of their work at local car shows – the result is a credit to their skill and knowledge.

The car was sold by Hurst Park Automobiles in 2016 to a super fastidious private collector who invested around £15k with his personal engineers and brought the GT to us in 2020 in part-exchange for another Milestone Classics car. The last owner has maintained the car to the highest standards since 2020.

Summary:
· Professional restoration 10 years ago to highest standards
· Speedometer was zeroed – now indicating 11400 miles
· Finished in original Mineral Blue
· Chrome wire wheels
· Black leather interior with blue piping
· Burr Walnut dash/ door caps
· Mechanical components all maintained to the highest standards since restoration

Today the car drives as good as it looks. The purring straight six and overdrive gearbox makes for a special driving experience be it a simple run down to the local pub or an extended road trip to Ireland to travel the Wild Atlantic Way with soft bags and golf clubs in the back.

We recommend a viewing and test drive. You will not be disappointed.
