1959 Morris Minor - Two Owners From New
The Morris Minor is one of Britain’s most recognisable and beloved post-war motor cars, celebrated for its simplicity, charm and dependable engineering. First introduced in 1948, the Minor went on to become a symbol of affordable motoring for the nation, offering practicality and character in equal measure. By the late 1950s, it had firmly established itself as a true automotive icon.
Presented here is a beautifully preserved Morris Minor registered on the 6th of August 1959, finished in a classic white exterior complemented perfectly by a striking red interior. Adding to its rarity and appeal, this example has had remarkably just two owners from new — a testament to the affection and care it has received throughout its lifetime.
The history file accompanying the car is both extensive and fascinating. Included is the original V5 from the previous keeper, documenting continuous ownership from 6th August 1959 right through to 2017. The first custodian retained a remarkable archive of documentation, including numerous servicing and repair invoices, original tax discs and a substantial collection of MOT certificates, painting a detailed picture of careful long-term ownership.
Further more, there is a wonderful period newspaper cutting from 1959, advertising a Morris Minor and celebrating it as a “low cost motoring pleasure” — a charming reminder of how this model was viewed when new. Photographs of the car attending a car club meeting at Horsted Keynes in 2022 further illustrate its continued enjoyment within the classic motoring community.
Mechanically, the car has been sensitively maintained with preservation firmly in mind. An engine overhaul was carried out in May 2025 by Newlands Car and Classic, a respected specialist who has also completed annual servicing since 2023. The accompanying invoices are detailed and comprehensive, clearly showing the time, care and investment devoted to the car over the years.
The maroon hood is in excellent condition, matching the overall presentation of the Minor, which remains true to its factory character. Throughout, it is evident that both owners have acted as true custodians, preserving originality wherever possible and maintaining the car as it would have appeared when it first left the factory gates.
This Morris Minor retains all the charm, warmth and character that has made the model so enduringly popular — from its friendly styling to its unmistakable period presence.
