Ford Cortina Mk1 (Airflow) – Prize Winning Car

The Cortina was launched a few weeks before the London Motor Show of 1962. Using the project name “Archbishop” Ford of Britain created a family saloon that could be manufactured in large numbers in a variety of guises in competition with the Morris Oxford/ Austin Cambridge, Vauxhall Victor and Hillman Minx.

Available with 1200cc and 1500cc overhead valve (pre-cross flow) engines and a variety of body options including two and four door saloons and also an estate the model range had a wide appeal and sales were strong. Today rust-free examples of Mk1 cars are scarce and well preserved/ restored examples are highly regarded with values rising steadily in recent years.

Milestone Classics sold this outstanding Mk1 nearly four years ago to a former Ford employee who came to view a Milestones upgraded Austin A35 and ended up buying this prize-winning Cortina and has cherished her ever since.
