1947 Austin 8 - Superbly Original

The 1947 Austin 8 was launched in February 1939 to take the place of the ubiquitous Austin 7 although civilian production was interrupted almost immediately by WW2. The new car had a 4 cylinder side-valve engine and although production did recommence in 1945 survival rates are very low and good examples of these cars rarely come to market.

Our remarkable car has been part of a small local collection and is superbly original. The Austin was resprayed many years ago. The paint is stunning with a deep shine/red coach line, no corrosion and excellent chrome making this an extremely attractive car. The interior is lovely with original seats, excellent headlining/sunroof, dashboard and carpets. The engine was rebuilt in 2012 at a cost in excess of £2500 and the history folder includes various invoices (new starter, tyres etc.), lots of MOTs and the original buff log book.

This rare and much loved car was only released through lack of use and will provide lots of pleasure to the lucky new owner seeking a highly original, well sorted classic car that’s whisks you back to a different era of motoring.
