1970 Morris Minor 1000 - Two Previous Owners
The Morris Minor is one of Britain’s best-loved small cars and a true icon of the post-war motoring scene. Designed by Alec Issigonis and introduced in 1948, the Minor went on to become one of the most successful British cars of its era, with its friendly styling, simple mechanicals and excellent usability ensuring it became a familiar sight on British roads. The later Minor 1000, introduced with the larger 948cc engine, brought a useful increase in performance while retaining everything that made the model so appealing.
This 1970 Morris Minor 1000 is a particularly appealing example, finished in a lovely shade of Grey and retaining the character and simplicity that make these cars such enjoyable classics. With just two former keepers, it also comes with an good history, giving a fascinating insight into its life from new.
Accompanying the car is the original bill of sale from when it was supplied new to Mrs Percival. Mrs Percival subsequently sold the Minor to Mrs Feltham, before it passed to Mr C-M in 2024. The ownership history is supported by a collection of paperwork, with invoices dating back as far as 1973.
Much of the maintenance during its later life was entrusted to Cripps Motors of Storrington, with the accompanying invoices showing clear dedication to regular servicing and upkeep. A service book is also present, along with spare keys, adding further to the appeal of this Minor.
Mechanically, the car has been sensibly upgraded with electronic ignition, while retaining the familiar character of the original Minor. It runs as a Minor should and drives lovely, offering the relaxed and uncomplicated driving experience for which these cars have become so well regarded.
This is an honest, usable Morris Minor with a genuine history behind it, rather than simply a car that has been preserved without record. The combination of its two-keeper history, original sales documentation, invoices dating back to the early 1970s and association with Cripps Motors makes it an especially interesting example for anyone looking for a Minor with provenance.
A charming British classic that is ready to be enjoyed, whether as an introduction to classic motoring, a weekend car or simply something to use and enjoy on the open road.
