1979 Ford Capri S - Excellent Condition and History

The Ford Capri was introduced by Ford of Europe in 1969 as a stylish, affordable sports coupé, conceived to bring the appeal of the Mustang-style formula to the European market. Combining distinctive coupé styling with straightforward Ford mechanicals, the Capri quickly became one of the defining sporting cars of its generation. The S models added a more sporting appearance and specification, helping establish the Capri as a firm favourite with enthusiasts and becoming an increasingly sought-after modern classic.

This 1979 Ford Capri S is a particularly smart example, finished in its classic blue exterior with a complementary cloth interior. First registered in 1979, it has had nine previous keepers and comes with an excellent history file which provides a fascinating record of its life over many years. The file contains previous V5 documentation to help trace its ownership history, together with a large collection of MOT certificates and invoices dating back as far as 1994.

For many years the Capri was maintained by Evans Halshaw of Preston, with the accompanying invoices demonstrating a consistent approach to its upkeep. MOT advisories have been attended to whenever they have arisen, with maintenance carried out as necessary and no expense spared in keeping the car in good condition. The history includes expenditure on items such as tyres, along with a considerable amount of supporting maintenance documentation.

Of particular interest, the records show that the Capri was placed on SORN for approximately five years, during which time it was kept in dry storage as part of a private collection of cars. This period of careful storage has clearly contributed to the condition in which the car presents today.

Supplied with a spare key and Haynes Owners Manual for the Ford Capri, the car retains the sort of history and supporting paperwork that is becoming increasingly difficult to find with cars of this age. The overall condition is excellent, and it is a car that looks every bit as good in the flesh as the photographs suggest.

More importantly, this Capri drives beautifully. It has the character, styling and presence that make the late 1970s Capri such an appealing classic, while its excellent presentation makes it a car you can genuinely be proud to own. It is the sort of car that, after walking away from it, you will turn around and look back at — with the simple thought, “I own that car.”

A wonderful opportunity to acquire a well-presented and well-documented Ford Capri S with a substantial history file and a clear record of careful ownership and maintenance.
