1990 BMW 325i SE 3 Series - 3 Previous Keepers/Plenty Of Performance
The BMW 3 Series is a compact executive car manufactured by BMW since 1975, with the third-generation E30 introduced in 1982 and quickly establishing itself as one of the defining driver's cars of its era. The 325i sat towards the top of the naturally aspirated E30 range, combining BMW's smooth six-cylinder engine with rear-wheel drive, excellent balance and the understated styling that has since made the E30 one of the most sought-after modern classics.
Presented by Milestone Classics, this 1990 BMW 325i SE is a particularly appealing example of the E30 formula. A two-door saloon finished in classic red with a black cloth interior, it has had just three previous keepers from new and retains the character of a genuine, well-preserved 325i rather than something that has been overly modified or altered.
Under the bonnet sits BMW's 2.5-litre, six-cylinder engine producing 171 bhp, coupled to the desirable five-speed manual gearbox. It is an exceptionally well-judged combination: plenty of performance when required, but perfectly happy being used as an everyday car. The engine has that unmistakable BMW straight-six character, with a wonderfully crisp response and a beautiful exhaust note that makes even an ordinary B-road drive feel like an occasion.
This is also an increasingly rare kind of car in today's market. It is wonderfully analogue, uncomplicated and involving. There are no layers of technology between you and the driving experience; you get in, start it, select a gear and drive. The steering, engine, gearbox and rear-wheel-drive chassis all work together in the way that make these cars so enjoyable. It is a car that can comfortably be used as a daily driver, yet still provides enough occasion and character to make a Sunday morning blast something to look forward to.
Finished with a set of BBS wheels, it has the right visual stance without compromising the original character of the car. The red paintwork, black interior and BBS wheels make for a particularly handsome E30, and there is something about the proportions of the two-door saloon that has aged exceptionally well. It is very much the sort of car you look back at while walking away and think, that is really cool.
The history accompanying the car is equally impressive. There is previous V5 history present, allowing the ownership to be traced, along with old tax discs and MOT history dating back to 1994. The history folder contains a substantial collection of invoices demonstrating regular servicing and maintenance over the years, together with a typed list of yearly services compiled from the invoices and original service documentation.
The car's maintenance has continued into recent years, with the timing belt changed in 2024, all new hoses fitted and a new radiator installed during the same year. New car mats were also fitted in 2024, while the braking system received new discs and pads in 2025. The most recent service was carried out in July 2025.
The original documentation is particularly pleasing to see and includes the BMW owners handbook, stamped service booklet and warranty booklet, together with two original BMW 325i brochures. There is also a Pioneer instruction manual and the extensive supporting paperwork within the history file.
For anyone looking for an E30 that can genuinely be enjoyed rather than simply displayed, this 325i SE makes a great deal of sense. It has the right engine, the right gearbox, the right body style and a remarkably comprehensive history, all wrapped up in one of BMW's most enduring designs.
An incredibly well-looked-after and cherished car, this is the analogue BMW experience in its purest and most usable form. The sort of car you can jump into, turn the key and simply drive — with that straight-six soundtrack accompanying you down the road.
