1984 Daimler Double Six - 56000 Miles/Two Former Keepers

The Daimler Double Six was the ultimate expression of Jaguar’s Series 3 XJ, combining the elegant lines and renowned refinement of the XJ with Jaguar’s smooth and powerful V12 engine. Introduced as the flagship of the Daimler range, the Double Six offered exceptional performance alongside the luxurious surroundings for which Jaguar and Daimler had become famous.

First registered in 1984, this lovely Daimler Double Six Automatic is an especially well-documented example, showing 56,300 miles and with a fascinating ownership history that can be traced back to its supplying Jaguar dealership.

The car was supplied new by Jaguar House Liverpool Ltd, who are recorded as the first registered keeper from new until October 1984. The second owner, Mr Charles Frank Mason, then acquired the Daimler and kept it for an impressive period from October 1984 until 2008. The current owners have subsequently cherished the car since 2008, meaning just two former keepers are recorded.

The original documentation makes for particularly interesting reading. Accompanying the car is its Jaguar Daimler Series 3 Driver’s Handbook, Maintenance Book, Service Record and Warranty Booklet, together with the cassette manual and spare keys. The service booklet is stamped by Jaguar House Liverpool Ltd and records servicing from just 961 miles through to just over 53,000 miles, providing an excellent record of the car’s early life and ongoing maintenance.

There is also a substantial collection of handwritten invoices, documenting the regular servicing and attention the Daimler has received throughout its life. These invoices correspond with the entries in the original service record and demonstrate a consistent approach to maintaining the car. For many years, servicing and maintenance were carried out by P & M Autos, with their involvement forming an important part of the car’s long-term history.

The Daimler is accompanied by a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Certificate, further supporting its provenance and originality. It was also personally valued by Jamie at Milestone Classics in 2025.

A genuine, well-preserved example of Jaguar’s V12-powered flagship, this Double Six combines an unusually detailed history with long-term ownership and an excellent collection of supporting documentation. A wonderful opportunity for someone looking to acquire a characterful Series 3 Daimler with its history carefully preserved.
